Basketball Recap: West Laurens' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but West Laurens unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Harlem Bulldogs. The contest marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Harlem found their leader in sophomore Gabe Williams, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jovaun Napier, who posted ten points and three blocks.

West Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Harlem, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-6.

West Laurens and Tattnall Square Academy will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Tattnall Square Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully West Laurens likes a good challenge. As for Harlem, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hephzibah at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
