Softball Recap: Antelope Has No Trouble Against Cordova

Antelope was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cordova on Tuesday. The Titans blew past the Lancers 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Layla Kelly made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kelly was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jillian Todd, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Deanna Richardson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Antelope was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Antelope's record now sits at 4-2. As for Cordova, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Antelope will venture away from home to square off against McClatchy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Cordova, they are taking a road trip to challenge West Park at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
