Preview: Robinson Knights vs. Steinbrenner Warriors
After ten games on the road, Robinson is heading back home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Steinbrenner Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. Robinson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 227 points over their last three games.
Even though Sumner scored an imposing 69 points on Tuesday, Robinson still came out on top. Robinson escaped with a win against Sumner by the margin of a single free throw, 70-69. The score was all tied up 33-33 at the break, but Robinson was the better team in the second half.
Robinson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was LaJesse Harrold out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Harrold scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Russell, who scored 15 points along with seven assists.
Meanwhile, Steinbrenner's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. Their rough 63-39 defeat to Plant City might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Steinbrenner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 604th, while Plant City is ranked 114th).
Robinson's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Steinbrenner, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.
Robinson skirted past Steinbrenner 51-48 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will Robinson repeat their success, or does Steinbrenner have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
