Basketball Recap: Cape Hatteras Hurricanes vs. Columbia Wildcats

The Cape Hatteras Hurricanes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Columbia with a sharp 65-44 victory. Winning may never get old, but Cape Hatteras sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

It was another big night for Abby O'Neal, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 17 rebounds. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Fairbanks, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Columbia's loss came despite strong showings from Ny'Keyia Basnight and Shetana Spencer. Basnight scored 19 points, while Spencer scored 14 points.

Cape Hatteras' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-6. As for Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cape Hatteras will square off against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobgood Charter is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Columbia, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bear Grass Charter will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
