Basketball Game Preview: St. Patrick Shamrocks vs. Saint Viator Lions

The St. Patrick Shamrocks will square off against the Saint Viator Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, St. Patrick didn't have too much trouble with Carmel as they won 54-35. Given the Shamrocks' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Corsairs are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Saint Viator made easy work of Taft on Tuesday and carried off a 58-38 win. The Lions pushed the score to 43-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Saint Viator is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points over those games. As for St. Patrick, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-7.

St. Patrick took their win against Saint Viator in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 56-36. Does St. Patrick have another victory up their sleeve, or will Saint Viator turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
