Football Recap: Ty Bouaphakeo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bennington over Waverly + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bennington can now relate to. They came up short against the Waverly Vikings on Friday, falling 38-18. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Badgers, who until this contest were averaging 13.08 points allowed.

Bennington lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ty Bouaphakeo, who threw for 304 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 48 yards and one TD. A healthy portion of Bouaphakeo's aerial production (125 yards to be exact) went to Jake Russell, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Leading Waverly to victory were Nathan Axmann and Brockston Teply. Axmann rushed for 212 yards and a pair of scores, while Teply threw for 130 yards and three touchdowns. Axmann has been hot, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last seven times he's played.

Bennington's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Waverly, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Bennington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Waverly, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Gretna East at 7:15 p.m. on the 24th. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Griffins have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten matchups.
