Softball Game Preview: Franklin Yellowjackets vs. Tokay Tigers

The Franklin Yellowjackets will challenge the Tokay Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Franklin has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Tokay will arrive with four straight victories.

Franklin came up short against Bear Creek on Tuesday, falling 13-2.

Meanwhile, Tokay got the win against Edison on Wednesday by a conclusive 14-4. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by seven runs or more this season.

Sophia Galletti 2027 was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ava Pasqualicchio 2028 was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jaden Hiers 2025, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Tokay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Tokay's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Franklin suffered a grim 22-2 defeat to Tokay when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
