Baseball Recap: Spanish River Takes a Loss

Spanish River suffered their closest loss since April 30, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Key West Conchs by a score of 6-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sharks of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Spanish River saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew DeRosa, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits DeRosa has posted since back in February. Another was Roman Zabala, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Spanish River has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. The win made it two in a row for Key West and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Spanish River didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-5 loss against Wellington on the 12th. As for Key West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-3 victory against Lemon Bay on the 14th.
