Basketball Recap: Magnolia West Comes Up Short

Magnolia West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 67-40 loss at the hands of the Klein Oak Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-19 back in December of 2024.

Klein Oak found their leader in sophomore Maci Mote, who went 8 for 12 en route to 19 points along with five assists and three steals. Kiana Vega was another key player, going 8 of 17 on her way to 17 points.

Magnolia West's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Klein Oak, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-12.

Magnolia West and Klein Oak could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Magnolia West (ranked 812th) will meet Tomball Memorial (ranked 119th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Klein Oak will take on Klein at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 116 places (217 vs. 101).
