Basketball Recap: Bayard Comes Up Short

After soaring to 64 points the game before, Bayard was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 60-20 loss at the hands of the Bridgeport Bulldogs. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-5.

Despite the loss, Bayard still got an impressive performance from Marcus Trevino, who posted seven points.

Leading Bridgeport to victory were Hayes Watts and Gage Nein. Watts went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points and five assists, while Nein went 7 for 9 en route to 17 points. That's the most points Nein has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Lussetto, who put up nine points and four steals.

Bayard's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Bridgeport, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

While Bayard had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
