The Fleming Island Golden Eagles will face off against the Clay Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fleming Island made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Providence School, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Stallions on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Golden Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.
Brooke Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Fleming Island got a massive performance out of Ashlyn Madine, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Madine a new career-high in doubles (two). Bailee Wadley was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.
Fleming Island hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clay, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Bradford on Monday as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Tornadoes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Clay also got a great performance from Sadie Russo as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Russo has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaelye Rouw, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Hailey Hackett, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Clay pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Fleming Island, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fleming Island hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Clay struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
