Baseball Recap: Lima Senior Has No Trouble Against Waite

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Start, Lima Senior was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Waite Indians with a sharp 15-4 victory. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Nazhir Gayden tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emmanuel Jokinen-Rutz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Elie Bermudez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Lima Senior always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Lima Senior back to even at 2-2. As for Waite, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Lima Senior will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Fostoria at 5:00 p.m. The Spartans are facing the Redmen at the right time seeing as the Redmen are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Waite, they will head out to square off against Rogers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
