Softball Game Preview: Booker T. Washington Wildcats vs. Pine Forest Eagles

Booker T. Washington hasn't had much luck against Pine Forest recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will welcome the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Booker T. Washington will be strutting in after a win while Pine Forest will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with ten losses in a row, Booker T. Washington turned things around against Pensacola on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 15-8 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jaydence Bennett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Bennett was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Skylar Brown, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Abby Hudspeth, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Pine Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 17-6 to Pensacola Catholic.

Kimaya Jones made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Trennedi Rose, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Booker T. Washington picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-14. As for Pine Forest, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
