Volleyball Recap: Roanoke Rapids Takes a Loss

Roanoke Rapids was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots.

While Roanoke Rapids had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-19, 25-22.

Matti Cutchin paced Roanoke Rapids' offense, picking up six kills. Cutchin got some help from Emilee Campbell and her 23 assists. Cutchin was also a major player on defense: she and Analeigha Hudson shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with three each.

American Leadership Academy-Johnston was led to victory by Tamia Johnson and Bridget McCord. Johnson had 12 digs and four aces, while McCord had 21 assists. That's the most assists McCord has posted over her last three matchups. Scotlyn Mixon was another key player, getting nine digs and two aces.

Roanoke Rapids' defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, their win ended a four-match drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.

Roanoke Rapids didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Bunn on the 25th. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Nash Central on the 25th.
