Basketball Recap: Model Secondary School for the Deaf Eagles vs. Leonardtown Raiders

The Model Secondary School for the Deaf Eagles pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-56 to Leonardtown.

Defeat or not, Model Secondary School for the Deaf got some senior leadership from Tyler Burckhardt and Luke Florio. Burckhardt scored 25 points along with five assists, while Florio. almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Pax Holcomb was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.

Even though they lost, Model Secondary School for the Deaf were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Leonardtown was led to victory by Darius Searles and Elijah Miller. Searles dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Miller scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Landon Windell, who scored seven points along with three steals.

Model Secondary School for the Deaf's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Leonardtown, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Model Secondary School for the Deaf won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Leonardtown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Charles will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
