Baseball Game Preview: Raymond Rangers vs. Meridian Wildcats

The Raymond Rangers will take on the Meridian Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Meridian took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Raymond, who comes in off a win.

Raymond's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Crystal Springs by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rangers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Carlton Davis was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple and one run. Nikameron Gilmer was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Meridian challenged Mendenhall on Saturday. Meridian took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mendenhall.

Blake Logan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

Meridian now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Raymond, their victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8.

Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Raymond has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. However, it's not like Meridian struggles in that department as they've averaged .431. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
