Football Recap: Monrovia Skates Past Roosevelt with Ease

Monrovia put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 46-6 win over the Roosevelt Rough Riders. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 735th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monrovia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from BYRON BELL, who rushed for 155 yards and three TDs on only seven carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. That's the most rushing touchdowns BELL has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Troy Grise, who rushed for 131 yards and one score on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Monrovia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 429 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 175 rushing yards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Monrovia's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Roosevelt, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Monrovia will look to defend their home field on Friday against Don Lugo at 7:00 p.m. As for Roosevelt, they will venture away from home to square off against North Hollywood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
