Softball Recap: Riverside Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Riverside came into Monday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Jackson Center Tigers by a score of 9-6 on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pirates also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Riley Dillon was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Dillon was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubree Huston, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Taylor Dillon, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Riverside's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Jackson Center, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside will head out to challenge Troy Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Jackson Center, they will venture away from home to take on Houston at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
