Basketball Recap: Russell County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Camyra Toney and Mckenzie Word

Russell County lost against Pike Road back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Russell County Warriors fell 53-46 to the Pike Road Patriots.

Russell County's loss came despite strong showings from Mckenzie Word and Camyra Toney. Word went 7 of 14 en route to 21 points and three steals, while Toney went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals. What's more, Toney also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2023.

Russell County's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Pike Road, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Russell County will welcome Rehobeth at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pike Road, they will square off against Park Crossing at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
