Baseball Recap: Dequincy Has No Trouble Against Hamilton Christian

After only two runs in their last contest, DeQuincy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hamilton Christian on Wednesday. The DeQuincy Tigers blew past the Hamilton Christian Warriors 16-3. That looming 16-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Diron Valentine was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Valentine was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Noah Pettifield and Turner Rodriquez did most of the damage at the plate: Pettifield scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Rodriquez went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Pettifield also put up a triple, which washis first of the season. Andrew Dowden was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI.

DeQuincy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton Christian only posted an OBP of .269.

DeQuincy pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

DeQuincy has already played their next game, a 15-0 win against Lake Arthur on the 13th. As for Hamilton Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-4 victory against Starks on the 14th.
