After each having a week off, the Nature Coast Tech Sharks and the Gibbs Gladiators will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Nature Coast Tech's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave two weeks ago, when they got past Hernando's usually-dominant defense. The Sharks blew past the Leopards 35-6. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Leopards are ranked 347th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cashis Williams had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 164 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries, and also threw for 20 yards and one TD. Those 164 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Nature Coast Tech was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 291 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hernando only rushed for 94.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Nature Coast Tech's defense and their six sacks. In that department, Dakota Mitchell was the leader with two.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gibbs). They simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat Hollins 47-6. With the Gladiators ahead 40-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Nature Coast Tech better keep an eye on Jordan Calvin. He was instrumental in Gibbs' win, throwing for 157 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes, while also punching in one TD on the ground. Steven Alexis helped Calvin out on the ground, rushing for 62 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Gibbs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Juan Jones led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He is becoming a predictor of Gibbs' success: when he posts at least one interception the team is 3-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Jones got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Nature Coast Tech's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.0 points on average over those games. As for Gibbs, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
