Basketball Game Preview: Mellen Granite Diggers vs. Solon Springs Eagles

The Mellen Granite Diggers will head out to square off against the Solon Springs Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Mellen has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Solon Springs will arrive with four straight wins.

Mellen came up into this matchup off a tough 38-point loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Winter by a score of 58-56 on Monday.

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Solon Springs blew past Lac Courte Oreilles, posting a 76-33 victory. Solon Springs has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Solon Springs' win bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Mellen, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Mellen came up short against Solon Springs in their previous matchup back in January, falling 55-45. Can Mellen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
