Long took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Headland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Long Rebels had just enough and edged out the Headland Rams 6-5 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rebels have posted against the Rams since April 7, 2017.

Long is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Headland's defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-3.

Coming up, Long will take on Winfield at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Winfield will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Long surely won't give up without a fight.
