Softball Recap: Memorial Comes Up Short

Memorial and Lubbock-Cooper squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Memorial had to settle for second. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to the Pirates, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Mavericks have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Memorial saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 13-21. As for Lubbock-Cooper, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lubbock-Cooper beat Memorial by a score of 11-1 later that day.
