Basketball Game Preview: Rock Valley Rockets vs. Okoboji Pioneers

The Rock Valley Rockets are taking a road trip to challenge the Okoboji Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, Rock Valley came up short against Unity Christian and fell 72-61. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Knights are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, Okoboji took a blow against Unity Christian on Friday, falling 78-42. The Pioneers haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Rock Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Okoboji, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1.

Rock Valley couldn't quite finish off Okoboji in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 56-53. Can Rock Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
