Basketball Recap: Nixon-Smiley Mustangs vs. Luling Eagles
Nixon-Smiley lost against Luling back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs were dealt a 70-39 defeat at the hands of the Luling Eagles. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Luling got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ayden Flores out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaime Gomez, who went 5 for 11 en route to 19 points and four steals.
Nixon-Smiley's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Luling, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-14.
Nixon-Smiley will face off against Karnes City at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Karnes City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. As for Luling, they will challenge Poth at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Poth knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Luling likes a good challenge.
