Plainfield falls despite strong effort from Collin Schmidt

Recap: Plainfield Quakers vs. Greenwood Woodmen

The Plainfield Quakers pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-58 to Greenwood. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Plainfield came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Greenwood is ranked 208th).

When it comes to explaining why Plainfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Collin Schmidt. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with six rebounds. Noah Smith was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Plainfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenwood only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

Greenwood was led to victory by Isaac O'neal and Jake Mosemann. O'neal went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 0 assists, while Mosemann scored 33 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mosemann has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Hommell, who scored two points along with two blocks.

Plainfield's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Greenwood, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainfield will take on Franklin Community at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Franklin Community's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 matches. As for Greenwood, they will be playing at home against Mooresville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
