Volleyball Recap: Ellie Zartman Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Taylor

Caston lost to Taylor back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Comets walked away with a 2-0 win over the Titans. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

Caston easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-17.

Caston's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Zartman, who had eight assists and four aces. Those four aces gave Zartman a new career-high. Lyla Gebhart also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Caston was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matches.

Caston's win bumped their record up to 6-21. As for Taylor, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-21.

Caston has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against North White on the 4th. As for Taylor, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Carroll on the 7th.
