Basketball Recap: Anyalisa Carino Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat La Joya Community

Washington had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos with a 37-31 victory on Thursday.

Washington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AnyaLisa Carino, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Zaila Lee, who put up ten points.

Several Fighting Lobos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samaris Pena, who had ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Pena has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joyce Samuel, who scored six points in addition to 12 boards and four steals.

Washington's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for La Joya Community, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Washington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 42-34 loss against Glendale on the 27th. La Joya Community has also already played their next game, a 27-25 win against Sierra Linda on the 27th.
