Softball Recap: Silverton Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Silverton waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the South Albany Redhawks with a sharp 16-5 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 back in April.

Mckenzee Petersen made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madalynn Ehrens, who fired off three home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Brautigam, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Silverton lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Silverton's record is now 14-6. As for South Albany, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-14.

Coming up, Silverton will head out to challenge Dallas at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Foxes' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for South Albany, they will welcome McKay at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
