Basketball Game Preview: Rancho Verde Mustangs vs. San Diego Cavers

The Rancho Verde Mustangs will face off against the San Diego Cavers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rancho Verde knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully San Diego likes a good challenge.

Rancho Verde will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Poly, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Rancho Verde walked away with a 59-48 win over Poly on Thursday.

Meanwhile, San Diego didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Patrick Henry on Friday, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory. Given the Cavers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Patriots are ranked 604th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Diego pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Rancho Verde, they are also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
