Basketball Recap: New Palestine Dragons vs. Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles
New Palestine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 50-43 to the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2015.

Despite the loss, New Palestine still got an impressive performance from Sadey Hughbanks, who posted eight points along with eight boards and three steals. That's the most boards Hughbanks has posted since back in December of 2023. Gabrielle Brown was another key player, putting up ten points.
Even though they lost, New Palestine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Guerin Catholic only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Ava Bills continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Guerin Catholic, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Behrle, who had nine points and four steals.
New Palestine now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Guerin Catholic, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
New Palestine will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Franklin County at 2:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. As for Guerin Catholic, they will welcome Purdue Polytechnic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Purdue Polytechnic will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Guerin Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
