Basketball Game Preview: Chardon Hilltoppers vs. Mayfield Wildcats

Chardon hasn't had much luck against Mayfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chardon Hilltoppers are taking a road trip to square off against the Mayfield Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.

Chardon is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 73-49 to North. The contest marked the Hilltoppers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Mayfield came into Tuesday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against South by a score of 58-51 on Tuesday.

Mayfield's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8. As for Chardon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Chardon suffered a grim 76-56 defeat to Mayfield in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Chardon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
