Football Game Preview: Trion Bulldogs vs. Greenville Patriots + Official Tickets

The Trion Bulldogs will head out to take on the Greenville Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trion has given up an average of 27.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Trion fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Westbrook Christian on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Bulldogs were up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Despite the loss, Trion had strong showings from Landon Kimbell, who gained 149 total yards and three touchdowns, and Linc Allen, who threw for 287 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes. Kimbell's longest reception was for an impressive 66 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. 85 of Allen's passing yards were hauled in by Bryson Roberts.

Meanwhile, Greenville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 60-20 loss at the hands of Mount Vernon.

Defeat or not, Greenville got some senior leadership from Marquel Deering and Jamere Smith. Deering rushed for 304 yards and one touchdown while picking up 17.9 yards per carry, while Smith gained 289 total yards.

Trion's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Greenville, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Trion against Greenville in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 43-12 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Patriots' Antavious Richardson, who rushed for 119 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 141 yards while completing 78.6% of his passes. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Bulldogs to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
