Football Game Preview: Guthrie Bluejays vs. Altus Bulldogs

Guthrie has won four straight games at home, while Altus has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bluejays will host the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Guthrie's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Western Heights 57-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bluejays' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Jets are ranked 237th).

Meanwhile, Altus hadn't done well against Noble recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bulldogs blew past the Bears 70-18. With the Bulldogs ahead 42-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Altus found their leader in freshman Jeymon Reed, who threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.1% of his passes. With that strong performance, Reed is now averaging an impressive 303.7 passing yards per game.

Guthrie's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Altus, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Everything went Guthrie's way against Altus in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Guthrie made off with a 56-34 victory. Will the Bluejays repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
