Baseball Recap: Algoma Christian Victorious

While Algoma Christian's victory against Heritage Christian Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Eagles 7-6. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Hudson Lockwood made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Algoma Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Lockwood was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carsen Kooienga, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Christian Bouma, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The victory got Algoma Christian back to even at 4-4. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Algoma Christian is taking a road trip to face off against Sacred Heart Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they will challenge Howardsville Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
