Volleyball Recap: Serena Beats Depue for Their Third Straight Victory

Serena entered their tilt with DePue on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Little Giants by a score of 2-0. The Huskers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Little Giants, too.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Serena was: they took both sets by at least 18 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-5, 25-7.

Their offense was headlined by Kendall Whiteaker and Anna Hjerpe, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Rebekah Shugrue and her 18 assists. Whiteaker was also solid from the service line: she led the team with ten aces.

Serena's win bumped their record up to 11-5-1. As for DePue, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

The future could be bright for both Serena and DePue: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Huskers will look to extend Illinois Math & Science Academy's four-game losing streak when they meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, DePue will try to hand Cornerstone Christian their 12th-straight loss when the two meet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
