Basketball Recap: Refugio Comes Up Short

Refugio lost to Woodsboro back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bobcats were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to the Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Bobcats have lost by just one point.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Fabian Garcia, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 18 points. Tybari Swain was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Woodsboro got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Devin Hatchett out in front who posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave Hatchett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zachary DeLong, who had 15 points.

Refugio has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Woodsboro, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-15.

Refugio has already played their next matchup, an 88-36 defeat against Port Aransas on the 6th. As for Woodsboro, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-39 win against Three Rivers on the 6th.
