Fonda-Fultonville and Fort Plain are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Valley Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hilltoppers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Fonda-Fultonville is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Granville 16-5 on Saturday. With that win, the Valley Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Jake Hernigle was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Hernigle was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Colin Pickering was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Noah Balbian, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Fonda-Fultonville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Fort Plain played in-conference for the first time on Friday and got just the result they were looking for. Everything went their way against Mekeel Christian Academy as they made off with an 18-1 victory. The Hilltoppers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 27, 2024 (when they won 20-3).
The win made it two in a row for Fort Plain and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Fonda-Fultonville, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Everything went Fonda-Fultonville's way against Fort Plain when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Fonda-Fultonville made off with a 16-1 victory. Will the Valley Hawks repeat their success, or do the Hilltoppers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
