Althoff Catholic has gone a perfect 10-0 against Cahokia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Crusaders will look to defend their home field against the Comanches at 4:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Althoff Catholic fell victim to Christ Our Rock Lutheran and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Silver Stallions by a score of 2-0. That's two games in a row now that the Crusaders have lost by exactly two runs.

Sam Roche was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one).

At the plate, Althoff Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Birdsong, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Birdsong has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Cahokia's offense. They lost 15-0 to Mt. Vernon on Thursday. The Comanches have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Althoff Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Cahokia, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Althoff Catholic took their win against Cahokia when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comanches turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
