Volleyball Recap: Elanor Davis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southside over Jones + How To Watch

Southside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jones Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Southside came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 26-24, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13.

Several Seahawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elanor Davis, who had 28 digs. With that strong performance, Davis is now averaging an impressive 10.8 digs per game. Annalynn Silverthorne was another key player, getting 20 assists and six digs.

Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Jones, they moved to 7-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-match losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southside will face off against Pamlico County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jones, they will take on Washington Montessori at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
