Basketball Recap: Bakersfield Takes a Loss

Bakersfield has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 63-56 to the Redwood Rangers on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Bakersfield saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rashaan Shehee went 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Shehee has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayen Carter, who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points.

Bakersfield's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Redwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Bakersfield has already played their next game, a 70-49 victory against Ridgeview on the 21st. As for Redwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-33 loss against Clovis East on the 18th.
