Baseball Game Preview: Williamson Marauders vs. Marion Black Knights

Williamson is 7-1 against Marion since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Marauders will face off against the Black Knights at 4:45 p.m. Williamson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Williamson was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lyons on Monday. The Marauders put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 13-3 win. The Marauders haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Myles Wurtz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Williamson got a massive performance out of David DeFisher, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. DeFisher has become a key player for the Marauders: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Caiden Watson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Marion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 26th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 12-0 to Sodus.

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Williamson, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Williamson took their win against Marion in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-3 score. Will the Marauders repeat their success, or do the Black Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
