League recap: Meade tops Syracuse to extend winning streak

Meade extended the longest winning streak in Hi-Plains this week by beating Syracuse, 75-16. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Buffaloes.

Cimarron and Elkhart played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Cimarron eventually emerging with a 32-26 victory.

Meade's dynamic duo of Chris Hardaway and Morgan Davis proved tough for the Bulldogs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hardaway threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns and Davis had 75 yards receiving. Trevin Wiens helped Meade's passing attack out by catching one ball for 65 yards.

Kevin Dasenbrock was the most productive running back in the league this week. In six carries, he ran for 100 yards as Lakin defeated Syracuse. Teammate Gage McAtee added to the ground attack by rushing for 91 yards.

The Wildcats' Alex Gomez and Jordan Forbit have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Hi-Plains in both passing and receiving yards. Gomez has thrown for 1001 yards this season, while Forbit, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 24 catches for 483 yards. The Bluejays' Ty Clark leads the league in rushing yards with 827.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Stanton County takes on Elkhart. The Trojans are in first place, while Khris Buckner's team is in fifth place.
