Baseball Recap: Albuquerque Academy Victorious

Albuquerque Academy posted their closest win since May 13, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Hope Christian Huskies 2-0. For the Chargers, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 victory the Huskies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The result came thanks to EJ Gallardo's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Albuquerque Academy is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise.

Albuquerque Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7. As for Hope Christian, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Albuquerque Academy will take on Atrisco Heritage Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Chargers are facing the Jaguars at the right time seeing as the Jaguars are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Hope Christian, they will challenge Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
