Preview: Chesterton Trojans vs. Andrean Fighting 59ers
The Chesterton Trojans will stay at home for another game and welcome the Andrean Fighting 59ers at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Chesterton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Andrean likes a good challenge.
Chesterton can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game two weeks ago. They beat La Porte by the very same score they won with last week: 64-20. Given Chesterton's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while La Porte is ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chesterton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tenley Davis, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenedi Bradley, who scored 14 points along with nine steals.
Meanwhile, Andrean had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 32-25 win over Kankakee Valley.
It was another big night for Maddie Walton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Andrean's points. Another player making a difference was Ashlee Evans, who scored four points along with two steals.
Chesterton is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Andrean, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.
