Softball Recap: Cabrillo Drops Season-High Score on Atascadero

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cabrillo). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Atascadero Greyhounds on Friday. This was payback for the Conquistadores, who suffered a 13-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The win made it two in a row for Cabrillo and bumps their season record up to 5-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Atascadero, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Cabrillo will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lompoc at 4:30 p.m. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Conquistadores' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Atascadero, they will venture away from home to take on Paso Robles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
