Soccer Recap: McNeil Takes a Loss

McNeil lost against Vandegrift back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The McNeil Mavericks lost 4-1 to the Vandegrift Vipers. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Vipers are ranked 62nd).

McNeil's goal came courtesy of Ally Weir, who's now up to 11 this season.

McNeil has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4-1 record this season. As for Vandegrift, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2-3.

McNeil will challenge Vista Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vista Ridge will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each match than the last. As for Vandegrift, they will face off against Cedar Ridge at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Vandegrift has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 16 goals over their last three games.
