Basketball Game Preview: Plattsburgh Hornets vs. Moriah Vikings

Plattsburgh is 1-9 against Moriah since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Plattsburgh Hornets will host the Moriah Vikings at 7:00 p.m.

Plattsburgh is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Ogdensburg Free Academy, falling 60-38.

Meanwhile, Moriah entered their tilt with AuSable Valley on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They took down the Patriots 57-40. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Patriots are ranked 748th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Moriah pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Plattsburgh, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Plattsburgh was able to grind out a solid win over Moriah when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 67-54. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Moriah's Cooper Allen, who posted 25 points and seven boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Plattsburgh still be able to contain Allen? There's only one way to find out.
