Baseball Game Preview: Eagle Point Eagles vs. Thurston Colts

Eagle Point hasn't had much luck against Thurston recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Colts at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

Eagle Point's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They didn't even let Springfield on the board, marking the Eagles' second-straight 13-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Thurston had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Highlanders as they made off with an 8-1 victory. Considering the Colts have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Thurston's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Eagle Point, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Eagle Point suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Thurston in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
